Why Do Teens Love the Vibe on Disney Cruise Line? A Teen’s Perspective
By: Vera Welborn
On my first Disney Cruise, I was honestly super nervous. I kept thinking, “What if I don’t meet anyone my age? What if it’s awkward?” I didn’t want to feel bored or left out. But the second I walked into Vibe, all of that changed.
Vibe is Disney Cruise Line’s teen club just for ages 14–18, and it is such a fun and safe place to hang out. It’s designed just for teens, so it doesn’t feel little-kid-ish at all. There are comfy couches, cool lighting, music playing, and spaces to either relax or jump into activities. You can chill in a quieter area and talk with new friends, or join a game and be right in the middle of the action.
Some of the most popular things to do are video games, crafts, karaoke, and Just Dance. There are gaming consoles set up where you can challenge other teens, and there are organized activities every single day so there’s always something going on. My personal favorites are Karaoke, Just Dance, and a game called Gotcha.
Gotcha is seriously one of the most fun games ever. You get a “target,” which is another teen in Vibe. The goal is to take a picture of them somewhere around the ship before they take a picture of you. If they snap you first, you’re out! You also collect photos with certain crew members around the ship. It gets everyone exploring, laughing, and being a little competitive in the best way. It’s such a fun way to stretch your legs and hang out outside the club while still being part of the Vibe fun.
One thing I love is that Vibe is open all day. If you want to spend time with your family at the pool, at dinner, or on an excursion, you totally can. Then later at night, you can head back to Vibe.
Sometimes they even have late-night activities from 12:00–1:00 am, which makes it feel extra special and more “teen.” It’s so fun staying up late with friends on a cruise ship.
The counselors are amazing and super kind. They actually take the time to get to know you, what you like, and who you’re hanging out with. They make everyone feel included. Sometimes they even plan surprise activities or little themed nights that make it even more exciting.
The best part of Vibe, though, is the friendships. I’ve met so many friends from all over the country (and even other parts of the world) that I still talk to today. It’s crazy how you can meet someone on a ship and then stay connected long after the cruise is over.
If you’re a teen who’s nervous about cruising, don’t be. Vibe makes the whole experience unforgettable. And if you’re a parent wondering whether your teen will have fun on a Disney Cruise, the answer is yes. Vibe isn’t just a club. It’s where friendships are made, confidence grows, and some of the best memories happen.
I can’t wait to go back.
